Biography of Irene Chandler
Irene fell in love with sewing when she inherited a Singer treadle machine at a very young age. Soon, she was sewing clothing for herself and her two younger sisters. When she discovered rotary cutters in the 70’s, she started quilting: Eleanor Burns’ Quilt in a Day King Size Log Cabin being her first project!
She has been an award winning longarm quilter for 21 years, winning Best Machine Quilting and Best in Show among other awards at local and national shows.
Irene lives in Millsboro, DE. She and her husband moved back to Delaware after 13 years in North Carolina to be near their seven grandchildren. While living in the South, she grew her longarm quilting business, belonged to several guilds, ran quilt retreats, and taught quilting at local guilds and shops.
“At this stage of life, I feel passionate about passing knowledge on to other quilters.” said Irene.
She belongs to Ocean Waves Quilt Guild and Ladybug Quilt Guild. She enjoys Mahjongg, the beach and spending time with family...especially the grandchildren!
