Biography of Barbara Buford
Barbara has been painting and crafting for over 40 years. She developed her art skills by attending numerous art classes, workshops and with lots of experimentation.
In 2007 she started an art program at the Salvation Army called Creative HeArts. The art program is for adults with developmental disabilities. Barbara has worked very hard to help her artists become a part of the art community. The artists in her program have shown their work in galleries both locally and in Philadelphia. On April 6, 2017 the Creative HeArts program received a National Award from the Salvation Army for excellence in programing in social services.
In 2015 Barbara's work was published in an art book called Intuitive Painting Workshop by Alena Hennessy. Barbara currently teaches an art journal circle at the Cancer Support Center in Rehoboth Beach. She also teaches Children’s classes at the Lewes Library and various art leagues throughout Delaware and Maryland. Barbara is a firm believer that art heals and that everyone should have the opportunity to create.
